Applying for Financial AiD

Financial Aid is available to newly enrolled Grade 8 students who meet our admission requirements but may not have the financial means to attend. Financial Aid applications should be made with your admissions application, and each aid application is reviewed confidentially by the YHS Financial Aid Committee and our third-party partner. York House will work with your family to personalize a plan for your needs.

Step 1
Admissions Application
  • Complete the admissions application form and be sure to indicate interest in financial aid by checking the appropriate box.
  • Request an application fee waiver if the fee is a barrier to your application by submitting this inquiry form.
  • After submitting your admissions application form, we will contact you to provide details about our Financial Aid program and invite you to submit a separate Financial Aid Application to Apple Financial Services (AFS). Applicants should not submit their Financial Aid application before their YHS application. 
  • Ensure all requested documents are submitted to complete your admissions application.
Step 2
Financial Aid Application

  • Complete the confidential online AFS application form. AFS charges a $137.50 application fee, which York House does not waive. If this fee is a barrier that will prevent you from applying, please contact us .

  • AFS may follow up to clarify details after an initial review. Please respond promptly.
     

Important Notes:

  • The AFS application requires detailed financial information, which may include a recent tax return.
  • The financial aid application is a separate and concurrent process as the admissions application.
  • If a student is shortlisted for admission but your family does not qualify for Financial Aid, we will contact you to see if you want to continue the admissions process without financial assistance. If so, the $350 application fee (or $250 re-application fee) will be required.

Scholarships 

Thanks to the generosity of YHS families, alums, and friends of the school, York House is able to offer several scholarships that support a significant percentage of tuition and program support. The name attached to each scholarship is a tribute to the donor and their values, and is allocated to students who meet specific criteria. 

Please note that general financial aid beyond the available named scholarships may also be available in any given year.

Frequently Asked Questions 

Who is eligible for financial aid?
Our third-party financial review partner assesses the financial circumstances of Grade 8 applicants applying for Financial Aid and makes a recommendation to the Financial Aid Committee. They consider factors like income, assets, and lifestyle expenses. All information is confidential—only the Financial Aid Committee and YHS Foundation have access to this information, and it is used to make an objective decision on each family’s eligibility and amount of financial aid. We ask that families prioritize their child’s educational expenses and explore all reasonable financial resources before applying for financial aid. 
Are all tuition and fees covered?
Financial Aid can support a significant percentage of tuition and other school program expenses. An unbiased and confidential analysis of your family’s financial need will determine your personalized support plan. For costs associated with additional curricular and co-curricular programs, activities, and excursions, you may receive up to the same percentage as your tuition assistance (maximum of 90% of total costs).
Is financial aid renewable every year?
If you’re receiving Financial Aid, your assistance will be reassessed and renewed yearly to meet your ongoing needs.
Where does funding come from?
Generous donations from  YHS families, alums, and friends of the school to our named scholarships and general endowment funds make financial aid possible. The YHS Foundation carefully stewards these funds to maintain a sustainable source of support for our students.
